Choose a wedding videographer, with help!

Since your wedding day is such a special event and one that likely won’t happen again you should take care in how you remember the day.
You should have an expert photographer and a professional videographer, too. And, just because a person owns a video camera, that doesn’t mean they know how to use it to tell your story. Instead of jumping in with the first videographer you find, research to find the best videographer for you.
We’ve written this post so that you can get an idea of what services are offered, what typical price ranges there are and how to spot a good videographer that fits you and your style.

Wedding videographer services

We are wedding videographers in Georgia, and when it comes to Georgia wedding videography, you need to know what services you want. For instance, do you want a video of the ceremony only? Or do you want to record the party and reception, too?

For basic services like this expect to spend $500-$1000 per venue, dependent on time (we pay our videographers, the actual camera operators about $100/hour!)

If you want special editing techniques, like we do, such as your wedding ceremony and reception video to play like a movie or documentary, your cost will go up precipitously. Expect to pay anywhere from $2,200 to $3,200.

Look for a videographer that has graduated from film school and thus understands better things like light, composition and storytelling. This will help you get a higher-quality film and a better value for you in the long run.

Is a “single provider” package deal a steal?

Professional photography and videography are vastly different skill sets that each need time to hone skills and require years of experience to get good. Expertise in each media—to say nothing of doing two things at the same time—is a lot to expect from one person. And probably not a good idea to gamble on for an event like a wedding!

When you need to consider a package deal, make sure that you verify the company coordinates a team of photographers and camera operators to cover your event. Remember, their goal should be to produce a photo album of fantastic imagery with a matching video of outstanding movie making prowess. This is what we do, if you choose that package. (we also offer separated services)

However, finer details like methods and techniques need to be examined, too.

When qualifying a photographer, your discussion will focus on photography styles and shooting details; with a video professional, your conversation needs to be about motion editing, story and even background music. When you talk to eith pro, they should be open and honest with any questions you have.

Photography and videography. It’s a balancing act.

Ultimately, your task will be to balance your budget with what is important to you. Make sure you get actual samples of the professional work that you are considering before signing and then, after you’ve made the right choice, just enjoy the day.

You’re getting married! Congratulations!
